Docushort The Table We Share
What they needed
K-State’s Engaged Stories Lab runs the Hungry Heartland project on food insecurity in Kansas. It needed a short documentary about Emmaus House in Garden City, with staff and community members speaking for themselves about food access and shelter, in English and in Spanish.
What I made
A 6:49 short documentary. I co-directed with Jessica Ramirez and Evan Gagny, filmed as part of a three-person video team, and edited the finished cut. Ramirez coordinated and conducted the interviews in English and Spanish. The footage is interviews and observational scenes at Emmaus House and around Garden City: the doorway, the stairs, the truck, the lot.
What happened
K-State published the film. It was covered by regional press and radio, listed below, and went on to six festival awards. Those are film achievements, not evidence of a measured change in food access.
