The Engaged Stories Lab at K-State Hungry Heartland: ECM
What they needed
The Engaged Stories Lab’s Hungry Heartland project documents food insecurity and the people working on it in Kansas. It needed a portrait of Ecumenical Campus Ministry at Kansas State University, with its director explaining how ECM thinks about food.
What I made
A 5:25 portrait built around an interview with ECM’s director, cut with footage of the building, the welcome sign, and the yard planted with food. The director talks about food security as health, sustainability, and community: a kitchen that cooks vegan so everyone can eat, and a yard that grows food.
What happened
The film is part of the Hungry Heartland project. I have not measured its reach.
