About Brock Edwards
I'm a documentary filmmaker and sociologist. Visual ethnography is at the center of how I work: I spend time with people before I point a camera at them, and the films come out of that time.
I hold a master's in sociology from Kansas State University and am a PhD student in sociology at the University of Tennessee, where I also teach. I take on documentary and video work for organizations and educators.
I mentor student filmmakers through MAD Docathon. Meet me as a Docathon mentor ↗
Research Ethnography, documentary and public scholarship
My interests include visual ethnography, social inequality, and community.
I directed, filmed, and edited The Table We Share, a Hungry Heartland documentary about food insecurity and Emmaus House in Garden City, Kansas. Together with a team of researchers, I conducted and filmed interviews with community members and Emmaus House representatives.
Now publicly available following its festival run.
